Hello fellow Fish Keepers!
I am new to this forum, but I have been keeping fish for about 3 years now. I have a 75 gallon aquarium that houses 3 Fancy "Calico" Goldfish (between 4 and 6 inches in size) and a small mob of 7 Panda Cory Cats. I recently went through a major algae bloom, and many of my decorations and silk plants were so covered in sludgey greeny brown plant that I decided to re-decorate. So I found a set of 13 various decorations for sale on Kijiji for about $20.00. According to the owner, she was just selling because she didn't need them anymore, however I want to ensure they are clean just incase. What is the best way to wash decorations? Can I bleach them? If I can, how do I remove the bleach afterwards? |

Welcome to the forums.
Soak the decorations in a weak bleach solution for a few hours. Then rinse them very well. The final rinse should be in a bucket containing dechlorinator.

Dechlorinator such as Prime?
I'm on well water, so I don't usually use any chemicals. I can get a small bottle for rinsing the decorations though. |

Yes, Prime is a dechlorinator as well as a few other things. Because you are on well water, you might want to go with a straight dechlorinator for things like this. It won't need to do anything more than just neutralize the chlorine. PetSmart has one which is very inexpensive.
